Rude Exhibition - Mnemosyne : Solo Exhibition by Charla Ann RMCAD Events

Friday, September 6 – Friday, November 1, 2024

Rude Gallery

Join the RMCAD community in welcoming the exhibition ‘Mnemosyne’ by Fine Arts student Charla Ann! The exhibition will be on view from Friday, September 6 – Friday, November 1 in the Rude Gallery on the RMCAD campus. More about the artist: Charla Ann, an artist originating from Casper, Wyoming, has spent the last decade cultivating her artistic journey in the city of Denver, Colorado. Charla Ann’s work demonstrates the trauma of losing a parent at a young age and conveys the true nature of grief. Her art serves as a source of comfort, tenderness, and connection in the shared human experience of death.

From the Artist:

Mnemosyne (neh-mow-zeen) Noun: the Greek Goddess of individual and collective memory. My work ventures into the complex relationship between memory and time, while seeking to understand how grief can reshape one’s memories and influence feelings about the past. I deliberately work with snapshots of my childhood to express the sentimentality and often hazy nature of my memories. By manipulating personal photographs, my work becomes a visual diary of the enduring influence of loss and how it evolves in the course of life.
