INTERNSHIPS

Experiential learning experiences such as an internship allows students to gain hands-on industry experience, knowledge, and networking in their prospective field. Students can participate in Internships for Academic Credit, or Non-Credit bearing Internship for Professional Experience. For more information on internships, please contact careerservices@rmcad.edu.

Participating in an internship for academic credit allows you to simultaneously earn college credit and acquire practical experience in your chosen field of study. This is achieved by working alongside professionals in a creative business or studio environment. Certain degree programs mandate the completion of an internship as a prerequisite for graduation.

Students in degree programs where internships are not a requirement, are encouraged to participate in internships whether they earn academic credit or not. Internship credits that are not required as part of the degree program requirements are often applied toward studio elective requirements.

Students can earn up to 3 credit hours for internships.

Internship prerequisites and guidelines do apply for all academic internships.

You have the flexibility to arrange non-credit internships at any time. Although these internships do not offer academic credit, they provide valuable professional experience that can significantly enhance your resume. It’s important to note that while you don’t need to inform RMCAD about non-academic credit internships, we always like to be informed and celebrate your successes!

For more information on internships please contact careerservices@rmcad.edu

  • Gaining experience in your prospective field before you graduate is helpful especially in the transition to a full-time position upon graduation.
  • Some students have already met their elective requirements and do not need academic credit, but want to seek out experience.
