RMCAD is honored to have been featured in the Denver Post for its burgeoning Fashion Design program. The article, which ran Thursday, October 16, 2014, reports on Colorado’s fashion industry at large with scoped coverage of an introductory, hands-on workshop hosted by Darlene C. Ritz—head of the Fashion Department.
The Denver Post asked RMCAD Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Kiki Gilderhus, about the arrival of the new department: “‘It fits in well with existing programs—think about illustration, animation and costume design, for example,’ Gilderhus said. ‘That was a really big part of making this happen.'”
Student Alexandra Knox transferred from the Art Institute of Colorado to join RMCAD’s Fashion Department. “I knew if (Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design) had a fashion program it would be great, because they’d want to keep their reputation, so I checked it out immediately.”
Colorado’s fashion scene is quickly gaining momentum, with RMCAD students and faculty excitedly at the forefront of the industry’s growth.
