Glimpse Recap

Community Comes Together to Celebrate the Future of RMCAD

On October 19, members of the Denver art community, along with students, faculty, and friends, gathered to celebrate the past and future of Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design at the college’s Glimpse event.

Attendees were able to tour the remodeled Texas building, view artwork from RMCAD alumni and current students, and attend multiple exhibition openings at the campus’ galleries. The event also allowed community members to get a closer look at some of the newest technology additions on campus, including the FAB Lab, which gives students access to 3D printing and other fabrication equipment, as well as a studio for motion capture, virtual reality, and audio recording.

During his remarks at the event, RMCAD President Chris Spohn explained the investment in these technologies will play an instrumental role in empowering RMCAD students to realize their artistic potential and career goals.

“It’s all about the learning experience. [RMCAD does not] exist unless it matters to the students. We’ll continue make that investment,” he said.

Bill Marino of the 40 West Arts District attended the event and spoke about RMCAD’s strong bond with the local art community.

“RMCAD is such a special place and its future is so bright,” Marino said. “It’s the creative heartbeat of our certified creative district. We look forward to working together in the community, in the classroom, in the arts district to help RMCAD achieve its full vision.”
