RMCAD will again partner with the Jefferson County Public School District to host a Professional Development Day for art educators. The event will take place at RMCAD on Wednesday, August 13, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Participants can earn Professional Development credits by engaging in workshops throughout the day.
Attendees can participate in three workshops. The following workshops have been confirmed:
- Paper Fashion
Inspired by the popular TV show Project Runway, participants in the Paper Fashion workshop will create one-of-a-kind garments and accessories using simple construction techniques and recycled paper.
- Printmaking (CLOSED)
In this workshop, participants will learn how to create a simple Collagraph plate to make unique prints.
- Pinhole Cameras
This workshop brings participants back to the basics. Attendees will explore the history of pinhole cameras and create their own to take home.
- Raku Fire
Raku firing is a process in which pottery is fired at a low temperature and then moved, while hot, to a closed container filled with combustible materials, such as paper and sawdust. In this workshop, participants will learn about Raku glazes and fire tiles in a Raku Kiln.
- Guerrilla Knitting (CLOSED)
Inspired by graffiti and street art, participants in this workshop will learn a basic crochet technique and the history behind yarn bombing.
- 3D Chalk Art Perspective Showdown
Working with pastels, participants will learn the fundamentals of 3D perspective chalk art and compete in a perspective showdown. Participants will be grouped together in teams and judged by RMCAD Outreach.
